I always tell the massage and aromatherapy students of the benefits of olive oil both for their treatments and for easy aftercare for clients.
I was recently away and as I was only bringing carry on luggage I didn't bring any oils or creams with me. I bought olive oil and it served so many purposes.
Having walked a lot more than I usually do my legs were quite sore and tight. Olive oil rubbed on my legs gave very rapid relief.
No cleanser. Olive oil again to the rescue, it removes even waterproof mascara and leaves the skin sooo soft. |

Love the sun & hate mosquitoes??
Some of us are especially favoured by the little whiney
insects and it is a favour we could do without.
Up until about 10 years ago whenever my family and I went on
a sun holiday my son and I were driven mad with the itch of multiple bites
while my husband and daughter got off scot free.
Then I discovered the effects of Peppermint essential oil on
the little pests. We put a few undiluted drops on our clothes when we went
out. (Note: don't use undiluted
Peppermint on your skin as it can cause irritation) No more daytime bites, like
magic! |

A few years ago I heard that egg whites are very effective
for burns; when I did a natural facial course egg whites were recommended in
face packs for oily skin. Just yesterday
a student in the Healing House told me
that she used the skin from inside the egg shell in natural facial treatments
and for bags under the eyes; this treatment left her skin beautifully soft.
Today I received an email from another student, which is doing the rounds at the moment, about a young man who had received bad burns
to his face. |

ShareCastor
Oil, which has been called "The Oil Which Heals" is an all round
wonder oil. When castor oil is mentioned, many people shudder and remember how
it was frequently used as a laxative. While very effective in this regard, the
taste, I believe, is not pleasant.
The good
news is that it can be very effectively used externally and need not be taken
orally to have an amazing effect on many ailments. It is anti-inflamatory and
painkilling so great for aches and pains including sciatic pain, muscular pain,
digestive complaints and more. |

Epsom salts are an excellent way to ease muscle tension and promote relaxation and the following is very helpful aftercare for massage clients and indeed for anyone who suffers from muscle tension (which is most of us!!).
Epsom salts, made of the mineral magnesium sulfate, are freely available in most chemists, don't cost the earth, and are easy to use. They draw toxins from the body, relax the muscles and also sedate the nervous system. In addition the salts will reduce
swelling and exfoliate the skin. |
